Pumpkin Patchin’

Today we went pumpkin picking and painted/carved our pumpkins. I can’t believe I’ve been picking pumpkins with my handsome hubs for 15 years!? Even though he and I end up usually doing most of the carving, sharing these traditions with our kids is so important to me. I thought I’d share a look inside a special day for us…

dsc_0048

We started at a pumpkin patch close to our house but couldn’t seem to find just the right ones. Though the hunt is half the fun, right?

dsc_0064

So we headed to the second patch, where we found just the right ones…

dsc_0085

This patch had some “spookies” (as we call them) and my oldest was less than stoked. Last year, my little guy was also petrified of anything spooky. But a couple weeks ago, I took him on a long walk to check out the decorations in my neighborhood during the day. Apparently seeing them in the light (and touching them and lifting their drapes to see they were made of plastic and batteries) really helped him conquer his fears. Emerson wanted nothing to do with them still, but Corbin hopped right up and said, “See Sissy! They’re just pretend!”

First Corbin hunted for his perfect pumpkin…

He said, “You like the white ones, Mommy.” Yup. 😉

He found his pretty quickly…

Em, on the other hand, likes to really take her time.

She thought she’d decided on a white one…

But then she changed her mind.

Thanks for following along with us! I rarely share our personal stories on here, but I’m trying to make a point to change that every once in a while. Hope you enjoyed… 🙂

The Event that Made Headlines, the Perfect Color for Fall, & OTK Boots for All Budgets

J and I had the opportunity to go see Amy Schumer Live this past Sunday. Did you see the headlines?? Oh. My Gah. I’ll spare you the details, because I try to avoid political banter on public forums (which is apparently not the case for Amy). But go ahead and google “Amy Schumer Tampa Show” if you want to hear about it. I promise I won’t discuss further! lol Anywho… I was LUV’ing the crisp weather and finally a chance to wear my over-the-knee boots. And I’m all about a good knit dress. If it’s cozy- it’s for me. You know fall has arrived when you’re seeing shades of merlot and burgundy. It’s right on trend, and I think it’s a color that works for all hair and skin tones!

Some of the options I’m LUV’ing in this wine tone:

I shared about these boots on my Instagram. They’re under $50 and a must-have for fall. I’ve linked them and some of my favorite OTK boots for all budgets:

And here are some of the other items I’m wearing:

Lastly, I wanted to mention my sunglasses for y’all real quick. If you follow my Insta closely, you’ve probably heard me say it before, but I’m obsessed with this subscription service. These sunglasses retail for around $300 (and I’ve linked them to purchase above, if you’d like). OR you can head to www.ditto.com and use code “LUVBEC” at checkout and rent them FREE for one entire month! I’ve tried oogles of subscription services, and few have stuck. But this one… it’s a goodie. You’re welcome. 😉

A Pink Midi… A Style Fit for Any Occasion.

I wore this skirt in my family photos last fall, and I’ve received countless questions about it since. Lucky for you, it’s still available! If you know me, you know I’m a sucker for a good midi/skater skirt. I think it’s the perfect item for when you’re having professional and/or family photos taken, as it’s timeless, stylish and sure to make a statement. It’s also a great staple to have in your closet for every season. For instance, this pink midi is under $30 and can be paired with a fitted tank or crop top for spring/summer and then add a turtleneck or a blouse and leather jacket for fall/winter. You can basically style this piece 100 different ways and enjoy it all year long.

img_9918

img_3310

Some of my favorite midis…

I LUV how many ways you can style this skirt by changing the top. Add a turtleneck or simple blouse for a classic style, a crop top for a little edge, or tuck in (or tie up) a plaid button-up for a more casual, preppy style. Here are a few items you could pair with your midi(s):

If you were wondering, the shoes are the splurge of this look… Like I always say, I’m all about affordable style… with the occasional/appropriate splurge. Red bottoms… they’re mine. 😉

Hope you enjoyed! What is your favorite style statement piece? I’d LUV to hear (maybe you’ll give me an idea for this year’s family photos!) 🙂

My Favorite Spot for Denim & Fall Boots and BUY MORE, SAVE MORE…

Last night, the hubs and I went to Busch Gardens for a fun little date night. We got to ride roller coasters and act like big kids, sans the little kids. We got a tour of the Howl-O-Scream festivities before the park opened officially for the evening and got a little spooked in the haunted houses. (Did you follow along on my Instagram Stories?!)

img_9993

I wanted to wear something that was both cute and comfortable and wear shoes that I could walk the park in without worrying about missing out on the fun because of boot-induced blisters (Ladies, you know exactly what I’m talking about!) I wore these boots for the first time, and didn’t get one blister!!! They were super comfortable, and I’m so excited about them for fall! They’re the perfect shade of brown and will go with almost anything! (I love the contrast of mixing black with brown.) The boots are currently 25%, and it’s BUY MORE, SAVE MORE until Monday, so act fast, if you’re interested! PS- They also come in black. I might need those, too. 😉

One of the questions I get most frequently, as it pertains to fashion, is where is my favorite place to buy denim. Though I have a couple favorite styles from other places, I have one main go-to store for amazing, affordable denim. I recently bought these black, stretch jeggings and I’ll probably be wearing them more often than socially acceptable… I LUV the sizing here bc it’s not like other juniors’ style stores/departments where you have to size way up and then you’re left feeling like… “I’m size what?!” (Usually at that point, I put them back for vanity’s sake.) In my experience with their denim, you can usually order your true size, without fuss.

Here are several other styles that I own and absolutely LUV! Again, right now it’s buy more save more, and denim is buy one, get one 50% off so it’s a great time to stock up for fall!

They also have tons of fabulous boots, so it was close to impossible to narrow it down to one. But here are some other amazing styles I’m LUV’ing, if you’re in the market for some new boots!

Finally, I added a little western belt, to finish the look. Western belts are totally on trend this fall and such a great way to complete a denim look or throw over a dress, skirt or romper. (See how I wore a thicker version over a romper for a concert I recently went to in this Instagram post.)

Here are a few options of Western belts for you…

Hope you enjoyed this post! I’d LUV to hear what topics you’re enjoying on here and what you’d like to see more of. Please feel free to comment with any questions or suggestions below!

Gold & Marble & Fall-Decor, Oh My!

What I’m currently LUV’ing…

Target‘s fall “Harvest” collection. Most specifically, I’m swooning over their gold utensil collection. Because I happen to stalk the store, I bought the measuring cups in store, but then I kept seeing some of my other favorite home bloggers posting about the entire collection (that I didn’t see in MY local store), and I had to have more (I mean, come on, at that price who wouldn’t?!) Since they’ve hit the shelves, they’ve been selling out like hot pumpkin pancakes, so here’s my tip if you want them too… Click on the links below to shop my favorite items and either have them shipped to your house free (when you’re a Red Card holder) or “add them to your cart” with free in-store pickup to ensure you don’t have to go on a wild goose chase to find them!

And, just in case you’re as obsessed with fall decor as I am, here are some of my other favorite items from Target’s fall collection:

Hope I don’t send you into too much of a Target oblivion. Maybe if you order online or do in-store pickup, you can save your wallet by not walking the actual store. Maybe… 😉

An Easy, Simple Fall Centerpiece

As a minimalist, I don’t like a lot on my table for everyday decor. So I rarely have a full tablescape, unless it’s a very special occasion. Here’s how I made an easy, simple centerpiece for fall for my dining room table decor…

The base is my large Dough Bowl, which is always the centerpiece for my table, and my neutral linen Table Runner, which I use pretty much year-round as well. I fill the dough bowl with assorted items, based on the season- flowers, moss, seasonal foliage, etc.

For example- here’s what it looks like in the spring:

I went to the dollar store and bought a $1 cheesecloth and then swung by my local Home Depot and picked up 4 medium sized white pumpkins. And voila…

I even threw in a couple extra small, decorative pumpkins I had for Halloween.

Come November, I’ll remove the polka dot pumpkins and probably add some cornucopia and an assortment of rich orange and yellows.

Though the dough bowl was an initial investment, I LUV how versatile it is and how I can use it for all of the holidays. Stay tuned to see how it changes in the coming months… 😉

A Neutral, Unisex Modern-Coastal Kids Bathroom

The other day I revealed Corbin’s big boy room, and as promised, here is the kids’ bathroom reno we recently completed. The kids share this jack & jill bathroom, but each have their own vanity area connected to their room.

We ripped out the old, original builder-grade tile, tub, vanities and toilet and replaced them all. The floor tile is a matte fossil stone and for the wall tile we went with a matte white subway tile . I really like the natural finish of the matte tile, as opposed to a typical glossy tile, as I think it blends really perfectly with all of the natural finishes we’ve used in the renovations (including the white oak floors).

We used the same white shaker cabinets we put in the kitchen, laundry room, and other bathrooms to create unity throughout the house. However, each space has different hardware, so they each have their own distinct aesthetic.

We wanted something that was neutral like the other spaces, unisex and something that could grow with our kids. So naturally, I went with black and white.

Here is the side of the bathroom as you see it from Corbin’s room…

We also replaced the old builder-grade ceiling light with this charming industrial ceiling light. And I went on a hunt for a curved, chrome shower rod, so I was so excited when I found this one.

Here is the view from the other side of the bathroom, as it looks into Corbin’s room. I like the way the neutral tones blend well with the colors of his room.

And finally, here is a shot as it peaks into Emie’s room on the other side… (Em’s dollhouse)

Thanks for checking out another reveal of our recent renovations! Got any questions? Just ask! I’d LUV to hear what you think! 🙂
