All I Want to Do is Bake & Watch Christmas Movies with eBay

I don’t know about all of you but December hits (OK, maybe even in November) and all I want to do is bake and watch Christmas movies. I think it’s another reason I put my holiday decorations up so early bc I want to be able to enjoy all the things as much as possible when the holidays hit. One Christmas tradition we do every year, that was passed down by my Dad and his family before him… is make vintage-inspired Christmas cookies. My dad moved permanently to his Utah house last year, so we’re carrying out the tradition here without him. The cookies are named after his mom, my {middle} namesake “Lulu’s Christmas Cookies” (my middle name Louise, which was her name, and everyone called her “Lulu). I’m so grateful to have eBay to find all of the vintage accessories and tools I need to make these traditional cookies that are so special to us!

What I LUV most about eBay is that you can find items that other retailers no longer carry, by using specific filters to search EXACTLY what you’re looking for! All you have to do is use the search bar at the top of the page and adjust the filters to pull in the exact kind of products that work best for you!

For example, one item that I cannot live without when I’m baking is my Kitchenaid Stand Mixer. eBay is a great place to find these at a lower price than many other retailers. You can even possibly find one for way less than regular retail price, if you’re open to purchasing a used or refurbished version. Simply check the “used’ box in your search options and then you can even filter your searches by “Lowest First” and find the best possible price for the item you’re looking for. If a brand new one isn’t in your budget, this is a great way to find those higher ticket items that you really have been longing for but don’t want to break the bank. You can even get as specific as which bowl capacity you’d like, which parts or components you want to make sure it includes, color, etc. And this is usually the case for any item you search on eBay… from home to fashion… you can get very specific with your searches to find exactly what you need!

The other thing eBay is great for is finding older items that retailers might not sell anymore. So, for the vintage cookie press that I need for this recipe, I could search specifically “vintage cookie press” and find the number one tool that I’d need for this recipe that I would have been hard PRESSED to find anywhere else! (See what I did there?!) lol We also use a vintage flour sifter for this recipe, so you can find that on ebay as well.

Lastly, I wanted to mention the other great filter about eBay is the ability to adjust the shipping time frame needed from “no preference” to a guaranteed delivery of 1,2,3 or 4 day-shipping and/or “free shipping”. In fact… did you know that 69% of items on eBay ship for free! I don’t know any other retailer out there that has such specific search capabilities to help you find EXACTLY what you’re looking for in the price range you are budgeted.

In fact, to prove it, I did a quick search for some of my other favorite items and so many of them are in stock and the prices are even lower than other retailers! From Spanx leggings to Ugg boots to some of my favorite fashion finds… I was able to find it all. For more of my favorite items, click on the images at the end of this blog post for shoppable links…

And for anyone who wants to try out our family recipe with their families this year, here it is… Maybe you’ll even start a new tradition with your families! My kids absolutely LUV this recipe more than any other A) bc it’s tradition and who doesn’t find enjoyment in carrying out traditions?! But B) bc they absolutely LUV to use this cookie press! They also LUV to use the vintage sifter for the flour (that you can also find on eBay).

Lulu’s Christmas Cookies:

1 cup butter

3/4 cup sugar

1 egg

2 3/4 cup SIFTED flour (this is what I use the vintage sifter for)

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

2 teaspoon lemon extract

green food coloring

decorations of your choice (we use sprinkles and red hots as tree toppers, wreath decor)

Don’t double recipe!

Cream butter. Gradually add sugar. Add egg, lemon and coloring. Add dry ingredients gradually. Bake “christmas trees” at 370 degrees and “wreaths” at 350 degrees for 6 minutes. (Use the different discs that come with the cookie press to make the different shapes.)
